5th Class Suggested Work to Complete at Home (11th May - 15th May)

Hi 5th Class!

You are all working extremely hard at home, keep it up! It is wonderful to see emails come in with your hard work, pictures of everything you are getting up to and even some “hello”s!
Here is a suggested list of work to complete this week. As always, there is no pressure to complete everything on this list, but try your best to – it will keep you on track with your learning. Also, if you would prefer to continue working on a part of the work assigned in previous weeks, that is no problem.

Every week, I attach a Suggested Schedule of Work that suits the work for the week in question. (Attached below)
There is no pressure to follow this, although it might help those who like to follow a timetable, or add some structure to the day. A good idea is to print the Schedule and tick off the work as you complete it – this way you can keep track of the work you finish.

Maths
  • Master Your Maths – Since we have finished all the weeks in Master Your Maths, now you have a chance to catch up. Find any columns/days that you have not completed. Try to complete 4 this week. If you have completed all, you can move on to the Week Tests. Try two per week.
  • New work on Mangahigh (online – www.mangahigh.com) to complete – 1 task based on ordering fractions and decimals. Please email me if you need your username and password J (missmulholland2020@gmail.com)
  • Learning Tables x 11 (Oral practise or Timetables.com)
  • Lesson on this week’s topic: Fractions, Decimals and Percentages (Attached below)

English
  • Spellings: Next spelling list (Attached below). Pick 10 challenging spellings and complete: 5 sentences and 5 definitions in your homework copy. (Learn the spellings daily, although you do not have to do the writing element of this daily - only once is perfect!)
  • Handwriting: Complete one page of handwriting per week – don’t worry too much about filling the book. Remember, we only complete half of the book in 5th class and keep the other half for 6th class.
  • Lesson on this week’s topic: Report Writing/The Hat and the Superglue (Attached below)

Gaeilge
  • Litriú – Fill in and learn spellings – To be completed everyday as normal (Attached below)
  • Lesson on this week’s topic: An Aimsir (Attached below)
  • I have attached the Foclóir agus Frasaí document and voice recording below to help you with pronounciation. (Both attached below)
  • Amhrán: Trasna na dTonnta (Tá an t-amhrán agus na focail ar fáil ar folensonline.ie)

Art
Creatives Against Covid19
Artists from all over Ireland are creating posters for a campaign called “Creatives Against Covid19”. The artists are spreading hope and joy using art, during this difficult time for our country. The artists have now invited the children of Ireland to create their own poster or recreate a poster for the campaign!
I know there are some wonderful artists in 5th class who might like to take on this challenge. This is completely optional! I have attached the “brief”, which explains how you can participate if you would like to!

Do not worry Adrian, only do what you can. Very sorry to hear about your arm and hope it isn't too sore.
Take care,
Miss Mulholland
