5th Class Suggested Work to Complete at Home (20th - 24th April)

Hi 5th Class!

I hope you had a relaxing and safe Easter with your family, and that you ate plenty of chocolate!

Here is a list of suggested work to complete this week – try your best to finish as much of it as you can as it will keep that mind of yours growing and thinking hard! You are in 5th class and should try to take as much responsibility for your own learning as you can. Although, if you are unable to complete parts of this work, please do not worry. Also do not forget that you can email me to help you with any part of the work that might confuse you, or if you simply want to say hello.

I understand that this is a strange time for all, so I have included a Suggested Schedule of Work if you would like to follow it. (Attached below)
There is no pressure to follow this, although it might help those who like to follow a timetable, or add some structure to the day. Don’t forget to keep helping out at home and try to get outside into the fresh air and sun as often as you can!

Just a little reminder to keep all books and copies that you have at home neat and safe.

SESE/Art/STEM
Weekly Topic: Leonardo DaVinci
1. Read Pg. 18 –21 of your Small World History Book
2. Pick which option you would prefer to do: A or B
Option A - Recreate one of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous paintings – you can choose from “The Last Supper”, “The Mona Lisa” or any of his famous paintings that you like. You can use any art material that you might have at home to recreate the painting, it does not have to be paint. Can you use objects from your garden? For example, grass, leaves, twigs, soil?
Option B – Can you create a canal lock like Leonardo da Vinci, using recycled items at home? Think about our Engineer’s Week challenge – what materials did we use there were water-proof? Have a look at this website, including the video at the bottom of the webpage. http://www.leonardodavincisinventions.com/civil-engineering-inventions/leonardo-da-vincis-canal-lock/

Please feel free to tune into RTÉ or TG4 in the morning for the homeschool programmes – they are a fabulous learning resource!  You can find activities to complete based on what you have seen on the television, and a quiz at the end of the week.
Here are the links to both websites:

Cúla 4 – Have a look at TG4’s version of RTÉ’s homeschool hub. It begins Monday at 10am on TG4. https://www.cula4.com/en/

When you complete any of the work above, please take a picture and send it to my email – I would love to see how you are getting on, and can offer feedback and corrections on your finished work.
