Hi 5th Class, Just a little post that might help with your understanding of "Finding the Full Amount when given a percent", which is on Pg. 123 of your Busy at Maths. I have picked out a few of those questions and made 3 live board videos (attached below) - questions 2, 6, and 4 (Try watch in that order). They might help you with how to solve the questions assigned! Here is a little video on Khan Academy to help with changing fractions into percentages. The activities to follow are quite hard as they use algebra (which we don't use just yet!). Don't get too bogged down with this video.. if you understand my videos, that's great! https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/pre-algebra-ratios-rates/pre-algebra-percent-problems/v/finding-percentages-example And a game that will help practise those skills! :) http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/percentage/MatchingPercentNumber.htm Whoops, I said this post would be "little"! If you are stuck on anything else in your Maths, as always - please email! :) Miss Mulholland ![]()

To prepare for these lessons, have a look at the schedule I have attached. The lessons are split up into age groups - decide what one suits you and check the time of the lesson. Try to have the Mangahigh website open, with you logged in, and then click this link (using a new tab) at the suitable time! http://www.youtube.com/mangahighvideos I'll be tuning in to the lessons too, I might pick up some tips! :) Miss Mulholland ![]()
Hi 5th Class! I hope you had a nice weekend and enjoyed the fresh air and sun! Here is a list of suggested work to complete this week. As always, there is no pressure to finish all of this work. We all work and learn differently. If you find that you are not able to finish all of this work, that is okay. If you find that you need more to keep you busy – just email! Although please try your best to finish as much of it as you can as it will keep you on track with your learning. You are in 5th class and should try to take as much responsibility for your own learning as you can. Also do not forget that you can email me to help you with any part of the work that might confuse you, or if you simply want to say hello. I have attached a new Suggested Timetable of Work that suits this week’s work. (Attached below) There is no pressure to follow this, although it might help those who like to follow a timetable, or add some structure to the day. A good idea is to print the Schedule and tick off the work as you complete it – this way you can keep track of the work you finish. Since more books and copies have arrived home last week, another reminder to keep all books and copies that you have at home neat and safe. Maths

It was wonderful to see so many of you get in contact with me and send in your hard work. All you need to do is let me know what questions you might find difficult by emailing me and I can make a video and post it on the blog for everybody to view! :) Here is a little video based on one of the Maths activities I have set for you this week (Pg. 117, Q2) to show you how the app works (and also for a little practice myself!). SESE/Art/STEM Weekly Topic: Leonardo DaVinci 1. Read Pg. 18 –21 of your Small World History Book 2. Pick which option you would prefer to do: A or B Option A - Recreate one of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous paintings – you can choose from “The Last Supper”, “The Mona Lisa” or any of his famous paintings that you like. You can use any art material that you might have at home to recreate the painting, it does not have to be paint. Can you use objects from your garden? For example, grass, leaves, twigs, soil? Option B – Can you create a canal lock like Leonardo da Vinci, using recycled items at home? Think about our Engineer’s Week challenge – what materials did we use there were water-proof? Have a look at this website, including the video at the bottom of the webpage. http://www.leonardodavincisinventions.com/civil-engineering-inventions/leonardo-da-vincis-canal-lock/ A website for further research – www.geniusstuff.com/blog/list/10-leonardo-da-vinci-inventions/ Physical Education/Movement Breaks (Pick and choose from the list below when you need to give your brain a break!)
