Hi 5th class,
I just wanted to bring your attention to a piece of news that I have spotted today, as it brought my mind back to November and our learning at that time! Do you remember learning about the Great Irish Famine back in November? Do you remember we read about "The Long March" in your Up and Running (Pg.64) and we also had a look at Mrs. Kelly's picture book? We had wonderful discussions about how the Choctaw (farmers from South Eastern USA), who didn't have much to give, sent a gift to help the Irish during the famine. "We have only little, but let us gather what we have and send it to Ireland". Today, articles have appeared in the news about how Irish people are now "repaying a 173 year old favor" - WOW! https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/06/the-irish-help-raise-money-for-native-americans-hit-by-the-coronavirus.html https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/coronavirus-ireland-native-americans-famine-21984769
