Junior Infants Blog
This month, we are learning all about the garden. In science, we are planting seeds, identifying spring flowers and investigating mini-beasts. In geography, we are learning all about the gardener and how gardeners help us. In art, we designed our own leaves and we are now adding mini-beasts to them using paint. In English, we are learning poems about planting and creepy crawlies. We are also reading ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ this month. In history lessons, we are learning about the work of Beatrix Potter and her love of wildlife. We are using her stories for inspiration during playtime. We are also learning about all of the different kinds of plants, vegetables and fruits that can be grown in the garden. We are singing songs about mini - beasts too!
We have been learning all about farming, farm products, farm animals and the work that farmers do. We explored farm animal products. As part of a history lesson, we explored how butter was made long ago and how it is made today. We made our own butter using the old method - churning! We used fresh cream, salt and a shaker to make our butter. We tasted our butter on some crackers - it was delicious!
1. All sorts of maths and numeracy activities on our iPads. We listened to the instructions and followed them to complete different tasks!
2. Sweetie Jars - a counting game using dice, counters and numbers
3. Money games on the interactive whiteboard. We had to make different amounts of money using coins and pay for items using the correct coins.
4. Jigsaws - using pictures to build jigsaws
Well done everyone!!
