Dear Parents/Guardians of Junior and Senior Infants,

We hope that you are well and that making arrangements after yesterday’s announcement wasn’t too stressful for you all.
Yesterday we uploaded a menu of activities for developing literacy and mathematical skills, along with some hands-on and fun activities for the children to complete during this school closure.

We understand that different activities will suit different households better. Using activities outlined in the menus, we have put together a writing booklet, a cutting booklet and a maths booklet for anyone who would like to print them out and use them. There is no obligation to print or use the booklets. The children can use resources in the home to complete activities from the menus.

It is important that the children cover the following every day:
  • Reading library books/ picture books
  • Revising sight words, letter sounds and blending (in homework folders)
  • One fine motor/writing activity from the menu or writing booklet
  • One mathematical activity from the menu or maths booklet

In addition to the above tasks, the children can choose a couple of the hands-on activities, games and tasks to complete over the two-week closure. We do not expect the children to complete all of the activities listed in the menus. Choose the activities that work best for you and your child.

Twinkl.ie is a fantastic site with lots of games, worksheets and activities available to download. If you are interested in downloading any extra activities, Twinkl.ie is offering a month's membership free to all parents. To access the free membership go to www.twinkl.ie/offer and enter the code IRLTWINKLHELPS

Most importantly, take care and keep safe. Enjoy spending time with your loved ones and have some fun! We are looking forward to seeing you all again when we return to school.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us using the comment section of this blog. We can also be contacted via school email and Twitter.

Best wishes,

Ms Tansey and Mrs Curran Butler
