It's Virtual Sports Week!

As we near the end of the final term, we are mindful that Sports Day is an event that many children look forward to. We wanted to provide families with a way of bringing the fun and excitement of active challenges and games into their homes, so we discovered the Virtual Sports Day website, created by Sligo Education Centre.

Here is the link to the homepage: https://sites.google.com/holyangelsns.ie/virtualsportsday/home

This site has suggested events for you and your family to take part in, to host your own sports day or sports week at home.
The activities are as follows:
  1. Running
  2. Kicking
  3. Throwing
  4. Balancing
  5. Traditional School Sports

Under each of these headings there are three activities, requiring varying levels of competency and skill.
Activity 1 is generally suited to classes from Junior Infants to 1st class, Activity 2 for 2nd to 4th class and Activity 3 for 5th and 6th. You can choose what activities and what level suits your family best and there are videos to show you how to perform the activities.

Under the DOWNLOADS button you will find a planning template for your events, as well as equipment lists (using everyday items). There are even lively soundtracks to get you motivated!

We hope that you enjoy practicing new skills and being active together in this beautiful weather. We would love to see pictures and videos of what you get up to so please email or Tweet your events!
