Thanks very much for your emails it was lovely to read your messages and see some of your lovely work. I’ll look forward to seeing more of your work this week. English: Spellings- must, stuck, nation, station, relation, action, fiction, dictionary, minute, second Dictation: He swears he can see his reflection. There is a junction near the station. Shall I mention the Christmas decorations? Put your spellings into sentences. Skills Book: Pages 76, 77, 78, 79 Handwriting: Please do two more pages of either the large handwriting book or the small handwriting book. Oral Language: Go onto CJfallon website; go to Quicklinks which is at the top right of the website, Click on OLP-J1 to 2ND. Go to Unit 13: inventions. Listen to the interactive power point and complete the games. Creative Writing: Compose a new poem or story about your favourite activity. If you could invent a mode of transport what would it be and why? In your green copy, draw a picture of what you invented and write some sentences about what you invented. Describe what it looks like inside and out. You just need to set up an account and you have lots of access to readers. (This is a wonderful resource, the children will really benefit from reading these books.) Continue reading any books you have at home SESE: Read the attached power point about the life cycle of the butterfly. In your green copy draw the life cycle of the butterfly. Write some sentences about the butterfly also. I have attached a picture of a butterfly. Draw or paint your own picture of a butterfly. Maths: Master your Maths. Friday Test at the back of the book. Time 2- page 116 -120 The Clock: This week we will concentrate on ¼ past and ¼ to. If possible use a clock at set the time, allow the children to orally give the answer. The children may be confused with working out the answer. It is a good idea to casually ask them throughout the day to look at the clock and tell you the time. Draw a clock and get the children to draw hands on the clock. Go to CJFallon, click on student resources, then filter to 2nd class, Busy at Maths. Go to page 7 and there are interactive games liked to place value. They are labelled page 116-120. I would usually go through this page orally and discuss any tricky problems; I would then let the children off to do them alone. Gaeilge: If you go to folensonline.ie you can access our Gaeilge programme ‘Abair Liom D’ Go to FolensOnline.ie and click register Select Teacher Fill in a username, email and password For Roll Number use the code: Prim20 Once you have an account the children can click on the ‘resources’ part of the Abair Liom D book and access all the games, songs and poems they have been learning all year. For the next theme – go to lesson 25. Lá ar an trá. The children will revise this chapter. They can listen to the story, song and poem and play the games.
