Thanks very much for your emails it was lovely to read your messages and see some of your lovely work. I’ll look forward to seeing more of your work this week. My Email address is Katrinacumiskey@gmail.com English: Spellings- grub, slug, eight, eighteen, eighty, weigh, reindeer, neighbour, child, children. Dictation: That dictionary weighs a lot. The horse neighed at my friend. There are eight blackbirds in the pear tree. Put your spellings into sentences. Skills Book: Pages 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 Handwriting: Please do two more pages of either the large handwriting book or the small handwriting book. Oral Language: Go onto CJfallon website; go to Quicklinks which is at the top right of the website, Click on OLP-J1 to 2ND. Go to Unit 15 The GAA. Listen to the interactive power point and complete the games. The children will hear the following specific language in the interactive power point. Final, Skilful, League, Celebrate, Competition, Panel, Victory, Accept,Opponents, Compete Creative Writing: Imagine you are the captain of the team, you have won the final. Write a speech that you would give after you receive the winning cup. Imagine you are the coach; your team has lost the final. What do you say to them? What do they say to you? Write a story about the winning team. Talk about how you felt at the beginning, during and after the match. These are all ideas for creative writing. It might be a good idea to pick one idea and work on it. I would love to read them next week. You just need to set up an account and you have lots of access to readers. (This is a wonderful resource, the children will really benefit from reading these books.) Continue reading any books you have at home SESE: The counties of Ireland. I have attached a power point and some worksheet. Complete the fact file on County Louth. Google the county flags, pick a county draw the crest and colour it using the correct colours. In your green copy, write some facts about the country of Ireland. Maths: Master your Maths. Friday Test at the back of the book. Patterns 2: pages 128 -129 Go to CJFallon, click on student resources, then filter to 2nd class, Busy at Maths and in the right corner click interactive. Go to page 7 & 8 and there are interactive games linked to place value. They are labelled page 128 &129. The games help the children develop a better understanding of the concepts. Money: Pages 130 -132 Ms O Hanrahan was telling me about an app that she is using for Maths, so I have been experimenting with it. I have attached recordings for the above pages. I hope they are useful; it was hard to write with the mouse so please excuse the writing. Encourage the children to handle real coins, call out various amounts and get them to count the correct amount of coins. Encourage them to work out change from 1 euro and 2euro. Up until now the children have only been using coins up to 1 Euro, so they may find it tricky counting to 2 euro. Use a hundred square also. Also use the interactive games on the Bust at Maths website, they are labelled 130 – 132. Gaeilge: If you go to folensonline.ie you can access our Gaeilge programme ‘Abair Liom D’ Go to FolensOnline.ie and click register Select Teacher Fill in a username, email and password For Roll Number use the code: Prim20 Once you have an account the children can click on the ‘resources’ part of the Abair Liom D book and access all the games, songs and poems they have been learning all year. For the next theme – go to lesson 26 An Béar agus an Béar Mór. The children can listen to the story, song and poem and play the games.
