​Hello to everyone in Second Class, I hope you are all well and I look forward to reading your emails and seeing some pictures of your work during the week. My Email address is Katrinacumiskey@gmail.com
Please complete the following work throughout the week. Please don’t feel under pressure to do everything, but remember to do a little reading every day.
English: Spellings- film, kept, hare, care, share, scare, square, nightmare, millilitre, litre
Dictation: This story is about hares.
                   The mare had a foal last winter.
                    The spare wheel is in the back of the truck.
 
Skills Book: Pages 69,70,71,72
Handwriting: pages 28 and 29
Oral Language:  Go onto CJfallon website, go to Quicklinks which is at the top right of the website, Click on OLP-J1 to 2ND.
Go to Unit 11: Irish Legends. Listen to the interactive power point and complete the games.
Listen to the story of the Children of Lir and also read it on the attached power point. Draw your favourite part of the story.
Creative Writing: Write a story about a character that has special powers. He/ She might use these powers to solve a mystery or help someone in trouble. Your character will be a hero.
Reading: Reading: Reader - Bedtime stories The Wise Girl
We will move on to the next story next week.
https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/books/free-ebooks there’s a number of books available here for you to read online. You just need to set up an account and you have lots of access to readers. (This is a wonderful resource, the children will really benefit from reading these books.)

SESE: The Lifecycle of the frog.
Please read the attached power point about the frog. In your green copy draw the four stages of the life cycle and write about the life cycle of the frog. I have attached a page that you can also use to complete this if you prefer it.

complete the pages 104-107.
Discuss ½ kg, ¼ kg and 1 kg , show the children by letting them hold bags of flour or sugar.
Go to CJFallon, click on student resources, then filter to 2nd class, Busy at Maths. Go to page 7 and there are interactive games liked to place value. They are labelled page 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109. 
 Master Your Maths: Week 27 and Friday Test at the back of the workbook.

Gaeilge: If you go to folensonline.ie you can access our Gaeilge programme ‘Abair Liom D’
Go to FolensOnline.ie and click register
Select Teacher
Fill in a username, email and password
For Roll Number use the code:  Prim20
Once you have an account the children can click on the ‘resources’ part of the Abair Liom D book and access all the games, songs and poems they have been learning all year.
For the next theme – go to lesson 24 Ag obair sa ghairdín children can listen to the story, song and poem and play the games.

Click Second Class book and go to theme 9: We Can Live as Jesus Asked. Complete the 2 workbook pages also.
