Hello everyone, 

I hope you are all keeping safe and well and enjoying this time with your family. 

Here are a few resources and activities for Senior Infants this week: 
Sight words: hear, maybe, on, first, together, behind, other, only, four, shouts from the reader 'The Alien Under the Bed'
Activities:
Make your own sight word matching game (see video attached) 
Look, say, cover, write check (worksheet attached) 
Look for the words in books and in newspapers 
Make sentences using the words 
Skills book pages: Pages for 'The Alien Under the Bed' start at page 85. Follow this link to access for free: https://my.cjfallon.ie/preview/student/33011/1


Phonics: the 'qu' sound. 
Make a qu poster: Draw pictures of qu words and write the words beside them 
Make a qu silly sentence: Use as many qu words as you can in own sentence 
Writing qu and making qu out of PlayDough 


Weekly Readers: 
1. Decodable reader to revise phonics and blending: Get the Gag
2. Sight word reader: All About Penguins 
Make sure the children point to each word as they read. After a couple of days reading the reader, if you are looking for an extra challenge, print off the reader and cut the sentences from the pictures, see if your child can match the sentence to the picture. Alternatively, write out one sentence from the book and cut it up, ask your child to put the sentence into the correct order.

Mental maths for Senior Infants: counting 1 - 20 and 20 - 1, sums to 10 (What is 7 + 2?, 6 +1? and so on), starting at different numbers and counting on to 20 (start at 9: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20), counting to 20 and skip no, 7 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, __, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20) 
- Board games that include counting (snakes and ladders, 4 in a row/connect 4) 
- Jigsaws 
- Helping with measuring in baking and cooking tasks 

Please don't feel any pressure to complete all of these activities or to use these resources - anything you do with your child at home will be beneficial to them! This is a great time for the children to spend time outdoors in nature and to learn life skills.
