Welcome to our SET Blog!

Our Special Education Teachers (SET Team) are here to help you with remote learning!
Our Special Education Teachers will be in contact with the parents/guardians of any children who have been receiving additional support in literacy or numeracy this year to discuss the format of remote teaching and learning that will be most effective for each student.  If your child avails of support in literacy and/or numeracy from any member of the SET team (Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Donnelly or Ms. Fahy) and requires assistance at any stage during these weeks of lockdown, please get in contact with your child's SET teacher through the appropriate email or by using Seesaw.
  • Mrs. Johnston:   mjohnston@kilkerleyns.ie
  • Mrs. Donnelly:   cdonnelly@kilkerleyns.ie
  • Ms. Fahy:    afahy@kilkerleyns.ie
We have some lovely resources for you to use with your child to support their learning over the next few weeks.  These are divided into literacy, numeracy and typing.  Suggested class levels are also included.

Any children who had been receiving extra help with maths can use the resources and websites listed below to support their learning.  There are also many ways in which your child can practise their maths skills in real life, such as telling the time, measuring, baking/cooking and designing and making things at home etc.  The maths websites below focus on various areas of the maths curriculum.

For literacy, a great way to develop skills is to read, read and read some more.  This can include books, comics, magazines, online articles or any written form that is of interest to your child.  The emphasis should be on enjoyment.  The literacy websites below focus on phonics, sight words and comprehension.

The typing websites include more games based approach for younger children and a more formal approach for older children.

Also be sure to check out the information that has already been put on the Class Seesaw and Class Blogs for more ideas.
