Work for week starting June 15th

Morning Everyone,

Our penultimate week in sixth class!  Thank you for all your wonderful work last week, I especially loved seeing your memory wheels and reading the letters and poems to your classmates, I have attached some below.

This week we are looking at the topic of Happiness and investigating how we are largely in control of our own happiness.  This is an amazing realization, that even when life is hard it’s possible to make yourself happy.

Again this week we’re going to make a good push with our maths, so please focus your attention in this area- you will notice again I haven’t uploaded as much work in other subjects to give you time to do this.

Maths:
  • Well done to everyone for their hard work in the chapter on Weight last week, some of the questions were a real test of skills!  This week we are moving on to Chapter 32, Capacity, Pgs- 172-177.  The first part is more of a revision topic like last week, the second part on volume is a new topic so take your time with it.
  •  As always I will upload videos each day in a separate blog post to help.  I will also upload to SeeSaw photos of any pages that can be filled in to save you drawing out tables.
  • We will also cover Pg. 182 on probability and percentages as we haven’t covered this topic before.
English:
  • In Racing Ahead this week we have our final chapter- Great Places of the World.  Read Pgs. 266- 269 and complete activities on Pgs. 270-271 – I’ll upload a photo of activity E on SeeSaw so you can fill in the blanks that way instead of writing the whole piece out.
  • Free Writing- Read the PDF below on Happiness, write a list of 10 things that make you happy.

Gaeilge:
  • Abair Liom Pg. 138- 139 is all about An lá deireanach I Rang a Sé, the last day of 6th class. Listen to and read the scéal and answer the questions on Pg. 139
  • Grammar- Pg. 19 in you Irish Verbs Made Easy workbook- Use Pgs. 180-182 in you Abair Liom to help
Art :
  • Having read the PDF on Happiness above create a ‘Happy Collage’, either online or on paper using text and pictures.  See examples below for inspiration.
Music:
  • As we read in our Happiness story music can create or change a mood.
Create a ‘Happiness Playlist’.
  • Songs are often used in graduation ceremonies.  When I was graduating from second level (a million years ago) a popular song was The Graduation Song by Vitamin C.  Listen to it below.  Do you think it’s a good song for children graduating?  Why?  Why not? What song would you choose to represent this year as you graduate from sixth class in Kilkerley?

SPHE:
  • This is the last week of our Transitioning Together Programme, we are looking at ways you can deal with any worries you may have about moving on to second level and your thoughts about leaving primary school and starting secondary school.

Have a good week,
