Junior Entrepreneur Programme - how it works!
Every year, the 5th Class children in our school participate in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP).
Running over a 12 to 16 week period during the school year, JEP nurtures creativity, independence and problem-solving among pupils of all abilities, with every aspect of the programme seamlessly blending into the primary school curriculum.
Under their teacher’s guidance, and with the inspiration of local entrepreneurs, children will discover their strengths as individuals and as part of a team. Together, they choose, invest in and produce their own product or service from scratch, all the way to making it available for sale at a school-hosted JEP Showcase Day – and enjoying the profits at the end!

2023-24 Junior Entrepreneurs - Mr Ward's Rang a 5
Fifth class began their Junior Entrepreneur adventure by taking an Enterprise Skills Quiz. This allowed the children an opportunity to see what their strengths were and how they could best use these to enhance their 'big idea' for 2024. After this, the next step was to come up with an idea. The class decided that they would think of proposals over the weekend when they were 'out and about' and that is exactly what transpired. Multiple discussions were had and tough questions were asked of each potential brainwave. The Rang a Cúig standards committee wanted only the best for their classmates!
In November, the class had a visit from Mo Chara proprietor, Cillian Mulligan.
The Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál alumni and Dundalk based entrepreneur gave the class an amazing insight into how, why and when he started on his business venture. The children were enthralled by his stories of working and living in India. They also very much appreciated the treat that he brought with him!
On December 7th, the class did a live Q&A zoom call with Bobby Healy, the brains behind the drone delivery service Manna. Bobby was very impressed with the great questions that Mr. Ward's class were asking and was very complimentary of their exciting ideas.
On Thursday, January 18th, the class will do a live zoom with Tom Keogh of Keogh's crisps. Let's hope the WiFi is Crisp!
